Flight Center HQ — EFB, on its own

The electronic flight bag built into Flight Suite HQ, for a pilot with no flight school: real FAA VFR sectionals and terminal charts, a route you build by tapping the chart, every airspace block you will cross with its floor and ceiling, a vertical profile that draws terrain and charted obstacles under your cruise altitude, a nav log solved against the NOAA winds-aloft forecast, weather and decoded NOTAMs, weight and balance, a fuel plan, a risk assessment tool, performance profiles for your own aircraft, and a logbook that stays with you.

$8 a month after a 14-day free trial. No card is needed to start and nothing is charged until you add one. The subscription covers one pilot and up to 2 aircraft, and can be cancelled at any time from the Subscription page; your logbook and profiles stay with your account. Members of a flight school or club that runs on Flight Suite HQ already have the EFB included in their school's subscription. It is a planning aid built on FAA data, not a certified navigation source.

How it compares: ForeFlight is $130 to $390 a year by tier, Garmin Pilot Premium $209.99 a year, iFly EFB from $69.99 a year and FlyQ from $79 a year, all billed annually; FltPlan Go and AvareX are free. Flight Center HQ EFB is $8 a month with the vertical profile, your own aircraft performance figures, a flight risk assessment and the logbook all included, and no ADS-B receiver support, synthetic vision or geo-referenced plates on the map.
